Mars Class
The trip got off to a flier, the coach was on time and Mars class were on their way to Cannock Chase.
The day started with Paul the Cannock Chase ranger taking us on a long walk equipped with nets and bowls. At one point Paul even showed us where the old sewage farm was located at Cannock Chase when it was used as an army hospital.
Finally we arrived at the pond. The children were exhausted after the long walk but they just had enough energy to have a go at a spot of pond dipping.
One member of Mars class even found a tadpole, if you look carefully you can see small legs starting to grow.
At lunchtime the children had the opportunity to go to the shop and cafe. The children all came back equipped with balls and ice creams.
After lunch Paul showed us his collection of stuffed animals. This included a stuffed badger and a very tiny vole.
At about 2'o'clock we all clambered aboard the bus and journeyed back to Walsall.
Mars had an really fun day on Friday 16th June, a group visited them to teach them all the skills needed for an archaeological dig.
The used a metal detector to find metal objects hidden in the grounds.
Who knows in the future some of these children could be responsible for finding some hidden treasures of Walsall.
Well done Mars, hope you enjoyed the day.
They have made a fantastic display of what they have learnt.
They have been thinking of some great describing words like hard, gritty, solid, bitty. I wonder if there are any other words they could have used?
Thursday 6th April saw Mars class have a really exciting day as they were visited by two actors to help them with this terms study on Romans. They got a chance to do loads of exciting things.
First of all the had to dress up as Romans would have done.
They then split into two groups and formed little villages in Rome, the leaders of the villages told the class all about life for the Romans. Some of the children got a chance to act out parts of villagers.
They had to solve many problems, in the picture above the children are building a bridge to cross.
They got a chance to stage their own Roman battle, it a good job they all had shields to protect themselves.
Mars really enjoyed their day and would like to thank the staff at the school and the company Timeline who made the day possible. Well done Mars for representing our school so well.
